The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NC100BW), Houston Metropolitan Chapter (NCBW - Houston Metro Chapter) is accepting applications for our 2024 Book Scholarship Award.

The mission of the NC100BW and the Houston Metro Chapter is to advocate on behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic development. We are pleased to offer students an opportunity to apply for funding to support their pursuit of higher education at a 2- or 4-year college/university. Two (2) $500.00 book scholarships will be awarded to two deserving 2024 high school graduates attending a 2- or 4-year college/university.

* The completed applications and all supporting documentation must be received on or before April 15, 2024.

Eligibility Criteria:

• Must be an African American female student 

• Must be a permanent resident or citizen in the Houston Metropolitan Area

• Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale; 3.75 on a 5.0 scale

• Must not be related to or under the guardianship of an active/current member of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Inc., Houston Metropolitan Chapter

Submission Requirements and Supporting Documents:

• Must be submitted on or before April 15, 2024

• Official transcript must be received by the application deadline

• Electronic transcripts are acceptable

  • (If sent via secure email from your high school counselor to nc100bwhou.pr@gmail.com, including the Student's Name and ID #.)

• Two letters of recommendation

• One Essay

• Photo

  • (If awarded, your photo will be used across all our media platforms to spotlight your win. If unsure if the quality of the picture is okay, please email us at nc100bwhou.pr@gmail.com)

• State Identification Card/Driver's License

  • (Used for the verification of residency)

• High School Scholarships Awards Ceremony Date

• Completed application

  • (Incomplete applications will not be considered)
